PROGRESS: Project Version 1.4 (28/03/2026) - A fully featured Kanto modernization based on the pokefirered-expansion, offering a complete experience with high-difficulty trainer battles and modern mechanics.
A Pokémon FireRed ROM Hack that modernizes the classic Kanto experience with quality of life improvements, expanded Pokédex options, and a challenging difficulty curve where major trainers use optimized items, Natures, and EVs.
🛑Features:
➡️Toggle Run: Press B to toggle running on or off without needing Running Shoes or the need to hold the button down.
➡️Level Cap: An optional level cap system that can be enabled or disabled by holding L and pressing Start.
➡️Physical/Special Split: Implementation of the PSS system to modernize combat mechanics.
➡️Fairy Type: The Fairy type has been fully integrated into the game.
➡️Expanded TMs: Movesets are updated with more Fairy, Dark, and Steel moves; TMs are now reusable and TMs like Hidden Power no longer require Pickup.
➡️Updated Movesets and Abilities: All Pokémon moves, abilities, and movesets are updated to match the latest official generations.
➡️Weather and Status Overhaul: Hail is replaced by Snow (granting a Defense boost to Ice-types) and Freeze is replaced by the Frostbite status.
➡️HM Improvements: HMs can be forgotten, animations are shortened, and moves like Cut, Strength, Flash, and Rock Smash are buffed for better combat utility.
➡️Expanded Kanto Pokédex: All evolutions and pre-evolutions of Kanto Pokémon are available, including regional evolutions like Perrserker, Mr. Rime, and Sirfetch'd.
➡️Revised Trade Evolutions: All trade-based evolutions have been replaced with alternative evolution methods.
➡️New Items: The item list is expanded up to Gen 9 and includes modern additions like Nature Mints.
➡️Modern Exp. Share: A toggleable item in the inventory that provides experience to all Pokémon in the party.
➡️Escape Rope & Infinite Repel: Escape Rope is now a Key Item, and a new Infinite Repel item has been added to toggle wild encounters.
➡️Pokémon Box Link: Allows players to manage their team from anywhere, though sending a Pokémon to the box no longer heals it.
➡️Permanent Obstacles: Trees and rocks removed by Cut or Rock Smash are now removed permanently from the map.
➡️Hyper Training & EV Reset: Special NPCs are available for Hyper Training (Route 22) and resetting EVs (Lavender Town).
➡️Professor Oak Battle: Players can now engage in a challenging battle against Professor Oak.
➡️Decapitalization: Full decapitalization of text throughout the game for a modern look.
➡️Gym Battle Rules: Gym Battles have been reworked into 3v3 Single Battles for a different tactical approach.
➡️Visible IVs and EVs: Pokémon stats, including IVs and EVs, are now displayed directly on the Summary Screen.
➡️Day/Night and Seasons: Visual cycles for time of day and changing seasons have been implemented.
➡️Held Item Recovery: Held items are restored after battles (Gen 9 mechanic), though Berries remain permanently consumed.
