PROGRESS: Complete (17/10/2026) — Fully playable from start to finish across Johto and Kanto with 3 distinct versions (Original, Fixed, Pure Gold) rebuilt natively on the pokefirered decompilation.

A faithfully restored and bug-fixed version of the classic FireRed-based Johto remake originally created by Zel (with Faithfully Fixed Beta 5 work by hacksrepairman). It preserves the full original ShinyGold content while delivering three distinct playable options built from the pokefirered decompilation.

➡️Massive Bug & Oversight Fixes (Fixed & Pure Gold) [NEW]: 136 placeholder trainer names (“24TRAINER/2”, “-EDIT-”, blanks, padded names) replaced with real Gold/Silver trainers across 517 trainers.

➡️Save & Progress Protection [NEW]: Story progress no longer lost after link trades; the extra save data the original hack added can no longer be overwritten or corrupted.

➡️Map & Script Stability [NEW]: Corrupt maps that previously crashed the game and broken map scripts that jumped into random data have been repaired.

➡️Crash & Softlock Elimination [NEW]: Phone call crash after the 7th badge fixed; Union Room trading code restored; Teleport no longer traps the player inside rocks; Fly to Blackthorn no longer unlocks before the Ice Path.

➡️Shiny & Item Flag Fixes [NEW]: Losing to the red Gyarados no longer forces every later Pokémon to be shiny; shared item flags that made items (including the only Leftovers) vanish have been corrected.

➡️Friendship & Evolution Corrections [NEW]: 13 Pokémon that incorrectly had base friendship 0 (making evolutions like Politoed and Milotic take far longer) now use proper values.

➡️Item & Text Cleanup [NEW]: Ho-Oh’s garbled message fixed; Rage Candy Bar now works correctly; EXPN Card no longer acts as an unlimited Poké Flute; invisible FireRed leftovers that started unwanted battles or gave free items removed.

➡️Trainer Rematch & Hardware Fixes [NEW]: Phone-trainer rematch top tiers now unlock properly; ROM always identifies as FireRed so saving works on Sanyo-chip flash carts.
