PROGRESS:

As of v0.4.0 and what I have planned so far, this game is about 65% complete.


The story begins with the player's father going missing while far from home working at a sawmill in the desert. The player's dad would send letters home telling about how things are going, but at some point the letters stopped coming and the company he worked for is trying to pay off the player's family. The player decides to venture down to the desert and search for the player's father personally. Along the way the player deals with gangs of criminals making problems in the desert and chasing away the locals. The player also meets a stranger that helps the player along the way, giving useful items or telling the locals about the player's accomplishments.

➡️Massive balance overhaul to base stats, move pools, and abilities.

➡️All movesets manually written with rebalanced stats and effects.

➡️Custom scripts improve many moves; more in development.

➡️Numerous custom-created abilities, many grant sandstorm immunity.

➡️Atypical starter trio, based on battle niches, not type triangle.

➡️Each starter has a powerful ability with multiple effects.

➡️Standardized level-up structure for learning new moves.

➡️All Pokémon get STAB with their favored physical/special stat.

➡️Mixed attackers receive both physical and special attacks at the same level.

➡️IVs are always 0 for all Pokémon and trainers; visible in summary screen.

➡️EV system streamlined — effort yields are in multiples of four and one stat only.

➡️Max EV per stat is 200, and total EV limit is 500 (down from 510).

➡️Custom central town (Dustbowl) with all essential services in one hub.

➡️Radial map design — all areas lead out from and return to Dustbowl.

➡️All services are unlockable and cannot be softlocked by progression.

➡️Free, unlimited party healing via water spots on every route (around the midpoint).

➡️Convenient optimization services available:

➡️Books and guides scattered throughout for in-game mechanics reference.

➡️Summary screen shows IV and EV values.

➡️Pokémon appear and respawn in the overworld.

➡️Each route has five unique catchable Pokémon, exclusive to that area.

➡️No TMs, tutors, or egg moves — only level-up moves.

➡️Only one ability per Pokémon — no secondary or hidden abilities.

➡️Movesets and coverage are tightly restricted for better balance.

➡️All trainer battles are doubles format.

➡️Trainers use Pokémon local to their area, appropriate to nearby level range.

➡️Unlimited trainer rematches available for money and experience.

➡️Trainer battles in caves/buildings have permanent sandstorm — weather effects apply.

➡️Healing items are very cheap, encouraging more usage:

➡️No HMs required for overworld navigation.

➡️No overworld item balls or hidden items — some items are given by NPCs instead.

➡️Base stat recalibration available via PC in Dustbowl lab.

➡️Level cap for v0.3.0 is 32, with long-term level cap at 50.

➡️Max party size is 4, applying to both player and trainers — team composition matters more.

➡️Evolution conditions are tightly controlled and fully custom-edited.
